In-Home Baby Nurse & Night Nanny Support

Bringing a newborn home is a beautiful experience, but it also comes with sleepless nights and major adjustments. Our night nurse and overnight newborn care services provide expert support so parents can rest while knowing their baby is in loving, capable hands. Whether you need occasional overnight help or full-time care, our dedicated team of newborn care specialists, postpartum doulas, and night nannies is here to help.

What is a Night Nurse?

A night nurse or night nanny is a trained professional who provides overnight infant care so parents can sleep. While not a medical nurse, a night nurse specializes in caring for newborns during the night, ensuring babies are fed, soothed, and cared for while parents get the rest they need to recover and recharge.

  • Hiring an NCS allows parents to rest and recover, knowing their baby is in expert hands. NCSs provide care, help establish a healthy sleep routine, and offer guidance on infant care, easing the transition into parenthood.

  • Our specialists offer full newborn care, including feeding, bathing, changing, sleep conditioning, and baby-related household tasks such as infant laundry, bottle preparation, and sterilization. We also create customized daily schedules for each family.

  • At The JOY of Sleep, we meticulously select the newborn care specialists who become part of our team through a rigorous process that includes:

    • In-Depth Interviews: Comprehensive interviews to assess both qualifications and character.

    • Background Checks: Full background screenings to ensure the safety and integrity of our specialists.

    • CPR Certification: Each specialist is certified in CPR to provide essential emergency care.

    • Reference Verification: Thorough checks of references to confirm past performance and reliability.

    • Standards & Protocols: Specialists' experience must align with the high standards and protocols promoted by The Joy of Sleep.

    • The Joy of Sleep Training: All specialists undergo our specific training to ensure they are fully equipped to deliver the quality of care we promise.

    • NCS Certification: Specialists have completed the Newborn Care Specialist Certification course or possess substantiated training and education.

    • Ongoing Education: Continuous learning is required to keep skills updated and in line with the latest in newborn care.

  • Yes, our specialists can provide care both during the day and at night. Nighttime NCSs typically manage the baby’s care while parents sleep, including feeding and soothing. Daytime NCSs provide similar care and work to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for the baby.
